Readers may have noticed a new visual “look” and new wording associated with the Catholic Diocese of Lincoln. The diocese recently unveiled new branding elements to help convey its message and mission to both Catholics and non-Catholics.
Some ministries will begin to use the words “Southern Nebraska Catholics” to identify their relationship with the diocese. When the brand is displayed, the “t” in “Catholics” is in the form of a crucifix and is larger than the rest of the letters.
“It immediately identifies who we are and where we are,” said Dennis Kellogg, director of communications for the diocese. “We hope the wording and image make our faith easily recognizable and also emphasize our diocese includes Catholics across all of southern Nebraska.”
The current branding image that includes the words “Catholic Diocese of Lincoln” and the diocesan coat of arms is not going away. It will continue to be used for official and formal communications from the chancery, including Bishop James Conley’s office, and in other instances as well.
The new “Southern Nebraska Catholics” brand will be used by many diocesan agencies, on social media channels and in parts of the Southern Nebraska Register newspaper.
“Our goal is to add the ‘Southern Nebraska Catholics’ brand to our evangelization efforts,” Kellogg said. “We hope people find it to be something they can relate with, see it as being representative of where we are and who we are as Catholics, and it evokes positive emotion within their hearts and minds toward the Church. Our diocese – from its parishes and schools to its ministries – is uniquely Catholic and distinctly different. We hope the ‘Southern Nebraska Catholics’ brand emphasizes that to everyone.”
