‘How Deep the Father’s Love,’ Holy Thursday - Holy Saturday

The Marian Sisters, alongside retreat master Father Matthew Rolling, invite women aged 19 to 32 to a Holy Week retreat.
The Sisters’ annual “Holy Week Retreat for Young Women” will be held from Holy Thursday to Holy Saturday, April 6-8 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House in Waverly.
This year’s retreat theme is “How Deep the Father’s Love.” Drawing upon the Gospel of John and the liturgies of the Holy Triduum, retreatants will reflect upon the reality of the Father’s incredible love for His daughters, and especially the effect this truth has on a young woman’s vocation as a Christian disciple.
“I’m seeing more and more the impact physically-, emotionally- and spiritually-absent fathers can have on the hearts of their sons and daughters,” Father Rolling said, “and yet our Heavenly Father is pursuing us, to love us and make us know that we are His beloved.”
Father Rolling said he hopes women on the retreat will receive, at an even deeper level, the love their Heavenly Father has for each of His beloved daughters, and encounter his transformative and healing love.
Founded in 1954, the Marian Sisters follow a Franciscan Rule, and their charism is to “Do God’s will joyfully in imitation of Mary and Saint Francis.” The Marian Sisters teach in Catholic schools in Lincoln, David City, and Wahoo. Sisters also serve at St. Gianna Women’s Homes, Villa Marie School, and Diocesan Chancery offices.
Father Rolling, ordained a priest in the Diocese of Lincoln in 2010, has served as a parochial vicar, high school religion and Spanish teacher, and vicar for Hispanic Ministry. After spending five years studying in Rome, Father Rolling returned to the diocese as academic dean and assistant professor of philosophy at St. Gregory the Great Seminary, the Lincoln Dicoese’s college seminary in Seward.

Daniel Seiker.
