On Divine Mercy Sunday, St. Benedict Church in Nebraska City celebrated the groundbreaking of The Abbey, a future parish and community center.
Pastor Father Ryan Kaup blessed the construction site and then led a Divine Mercy holy hour. Following the blessing and prayer, parishioners and friends celebrated with fellowship and refreshments.
Father Kaup said The Abbey will be a place of encounter, hospitality, and mission for parishioners and non-parishioners alike in the Kearney Hill Neighborhood. The expected completion of the project is the spring of 2024.
