The movie “A Father’s Heart” will play at Lincoln Grand Cinemas, 1101 P St., Lincoln, May 1, the feast of St. Joseph the Worker.

The film tells the story of Joseph of Nazareth, the humble figure barely mentioned in the Bible. In “A Father’s Heart,” the filmmakers searched five continents for people whose lives have been transformed by the saint. The movie features testimonies of those who have seen authentic miracles brought forth through the intercession of St. Joseph. From radical conversions to impossible cures; from the rebuilding of broken marriages, to aid to the dying, the documentary reveals who St. Joseph is and how he acts in the present world.

The movie explores the titles given to St. Joseph: Husband of Mary, Foster Father of Jesus, Protector of the Church, Patron of the Dying, Terror of Demons. It shares the personality of Joseph of Nazareth, not as a silent historical character, but as that of a very special father with the power to help millions of people today.

The film was directed by Andrés Garrigó, a journalist, correspondent, film director and founder of Goya Producciones. He began his career as a journalist and spent 30 years in Brussels. His films include “Fatima, the Ultimate Mystery,” and “An Ardent Heart.”

“This man who worked in a workshop 2,000 years ago now has multiple jobs,” Garrigó said of St. Joseph. “He acts as a protector of parents and families, as a patron of the Church, as an intercessor for workers, and as a helper for the dying. In the film we highlight one of his lesser-known titles: ‘the terror of demons.’”

Among the testimonies is a priest from the United States, Father Donald Calloway. Garrigó said Father Calloway “went from a turbulent youth with prison sentences, to convert, and become a priest and world propagator of love for the Patriarch.”

Now a member of the Congregation of Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Conception of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary, Father Calloway wrote “Consecration to St. Joseph: The Wonders of Our Spiritual Father” in 2020.

“A Father’s Heart” will be preceded by a short film produced by The Knights of Columbus, “Our Liberator: St. Joseph and the Priests of Dachau.”
