Members of the Carmelite Sisters of the Most Sacred Heart of Los Angeles visited the Diocese of Lincoln April 21-26.
Sister Myriam, Sister Mary Joseph and Sister Julianna spent time talking with seminarians from St. Gregory the Great Seminary in Seward and students from the Newman Center at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL). They held one-on-one spiritual accompaniment, group talks, dinners, sharing of vocation stories over ice cream, and even a visit to the Holy Family Shrine in Gretna. North American Martyrs Parish in Lincoln hosted the Sisters.
“We have an opportunity to meet with the students one-on-one,” Sister Myriam explained, “and also just to expose the students to religious life, so sharing our vocation stories and sharing the beauty of religious life and what a gift it is to be called and to be able to respond to that and to give your life to the Lord and to share with them the beauty of what that life looks like. Just being with them and getting to enjoy them and hear their stories and walk with them.”
The Carmelites also visited the home of Beth and Dave Gosselin for a women's dinner. The Gosselins’ daughter, Sister Joseph Francesca (Amy Gosselin), is a graduate of Pius X High School in Lincoln and now a Carmelite.
