Men and women are invited to a weekend deliverance and healing retreat with Father Gary Coulter at Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House Aug. 25-27.

The “Unbound: Freedom in Christ” retreat is designed to allow hearts to open more fully in response to Jesus’ invitation to live the freedom he brings. The retreat is an opportunity for God’s healing love to touch hurts and break the bonds that formed where wounds and sin allowed the evil one to take a hold on people’s lives spiritually, physically, mentally and emotionally.

“Sometimes we don’t experience the full power of the gospel, as it’s easy to take for granted,” Father Coulter explained. “The reality is that we’re slaves to sin in need of exodus, we’re in shackles and bondage in need of a savior. God rescues. God delivers. This is exactly what faith and repentance, baptism and the sacraments do for us!”

Based on the book, “Unbound: A Practical Guide to Deliverance” by Neal Lozano, there are five keys that enable people to experience a profound conversion and live in greater freedom: Repentance and Faith, Forgiveness, Renunciation, Command and the Fathers Blessing. The model allows individuals to respond to the Gospel by listening deeply to their own stories and their own hearts. More information about Unbound is available at lincolndiocese.org/unbound.

Prayer teams from Unbound Ministry will be available on the retreat to pray with participants using the five keys. Retreatants are asked to have read the first nine chapters of the Unbound book if they would like to have a ministry team pray with them, for a deeper awareness of what they have experienced, and grow in desire for the power of Jesus to heal and set free.

Father Coulter has been the director of Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House for 10 years. Ordained a priest in 1999, he received a Canon Law degree from Santa Croce University in Rome, and was pastor in Ashland and Greenwood for nine years.

Father Coulter said he has personally experienced the fruits of Unbound, and he desires to share the fruits with others. He is the director of Unbound Ministry for the Diocese of Lincoln.
