Men and women are invited to the annual “Work of the Holy Angels” retreat with Opus Sanctorum Angelorum at Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House Sept. 7-10.

The four-day retreat is an immersive experience into the understanding of the role angels play in people’s prayer lives, and their vast wisdom they provide in guiding people to the Throne of God.

Father Matthew Hincks, one of the retreat speakers, said angels are “experts” in prayer.

“We can say the angels have spent thousands, if not millions, maybe billions of years praying and adoring before the face of the Father,” he said.

Father Matthew Hincks and Father John Brohl, ORC, will lead the retreat as part of Opus Sanctorum Angelorum, the Work of the Holy Angels, an international movement within the Catholic Church faithful to the Magisterium. Its mission is to spread devotion to and conscious collaboration with the holy angels.

To ask the intercession of the angels is to become imitators of them. The conferences will focus on the angels’ roles of guiding people in the spiritual life, their intercession, the miraculous works they can do and more.

“You should not be reluctant to ask the angels to work miracles for us,” Father Hincks said. “Nothing is either too big or too small for the angels to be concerned.”

The retreat includes Mass and adoration, liturgy of the hours and devotions, time for private reflection and opportunities for confession or spiritual direction.

The retreat will start with a 6 p.m. dinner on Thursday and end with Mass on Sunday, followed by lunch. As it is a four-day retreat with two priests, the suggested donation is $350. For more information or with questions, call Cheryl at 402-618-1733.
