As part of the Eucharistic Revival and its 60th anniversary, Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House in Waverly will host an “Ablaze” worship night Sunday, Sept. 24, from 6 to 8 p.m. with Father Michael Voithofer.
The event will be followed by pizza and fellowship on the front lawn of the retreat house.
The National Eucharistic Revival is a movement to restore understanding and devotion to the great mystery by helping people renew devotion to Jesus Christ in the Eucharist. Father Voithofer said he has a desire for people’s hearts to be aflame with love for Jesus Christ and, as “it’s in these moments in His ‘Real Presence’ that our souls are ignited with His blazing love!”
The mission of Ablaze is to satisfy the deepest longing of Jesus’ Heart found in Luke 12:49: “I have come to cast fire upon the earth and how I wish it were blazing.”
Father Voithofer is the founder of Ablaze House of Prayer. He was ordained a priest in the Archdiocese of Omaha in 2010 and has served at multiple parishes until God called him full-time to start this apostolate. Ablaze ministry uses music, Scripture, spiritual teachings, and the power of the Eucharist and the Holy Spirit to enkindle in participants a burning love for God.
In case of rain, the Ablaze worship night Sept. 24 will be moved to the indoor chapel at the retreat house.
Upcoming retreats at Our Lady of Good Counsel include “Going Deeper” with Father Michael McCabe Sept. 22-24; “Rekindling Eucharistic Amazement” with Father Wade Menezes, CPM Sept. 30-Oct. 1; and “Living His Life Abundantly” with Johnnette (Benkovic) Williams Oct. 6-8.
