Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House in Waverly will host “Laborers in the Vineyard,” a 24-hour retreat for men and dads Jan. 12-13, 2024.
Participants will study the theology of work. Scripture teaches that human beings are made in the image of God, and God is a worker. Thus, the Church teaches that human labor has intrinsic value because in it, humans “image,” or reflect, the Creator. God the Father continues his creative, sustaining, and redeeming work through human labor, giving it dignity and purpose.
“Laborers in the Vineyard” will be presented by Father Troy Schweiger, pastor at St. Patrick Church in Lincoln; Father Gary Coulter, director of the retreat house; and Bob Sullivan from St. Wenceslaus Parish in Wahoo. Bishop James Conley will attend lunch with participants.
The retreat begins with Mass Friday, Jan. 12, at 7 p.m., and concludes with a vigil Mass and 6 p.m. supper on Saturday, Jan. 13.
