St. Joseph Parish in York plans a stained-glass window project to honor former pastor Msgr. James Reinert, who died in 2020.

Msgr. Reinert was ordained in 1983 and served in a variety of pastoral roles, as pastor, teacher, a local- and diocesan-level school administrator, director of Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House, and in the papal delegation to the United Nations. He served the people of God in Lincoln, Falls City, McCook, Syracuse, Rulo, Hastings, McCool Junction, and York.

To honor his service and dedication as pastor of St. Joseph for 10 years, the parish is commissioning a stained-glass window by Kruse Stained Glass of Hartington. The window will stand approximately 5 1/2 feet tall and 2 feet wide, encased in a shadow box and backlit with LED lighting. The total cost is $8,420, and donations will be accepted until Dec. 31.

Checks can be made out to St. Joseph Parish, and they are tax deductible. Donations may be dropped into the collection basket or at the church office.
