The Emmaus Institute for Biblical Studies will offer four in-person and online classes beginning Feb. 19, plus a retreat Feb. 23-25.
Two 10-week classes on Mondays and Tuesdays, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., will continue the “Creation to New Creation” journey through the Bible.
The Monday class (Cohort C, open to everyone), beginning Feb. 19, will focus on the last part of the Old Testament—the Prophetic Books (Isaiah through Malachi) —and will be taught by Chad Steiner and Vern Steiner.
On Tuesday evenings, beginning Feb. 20, Joshua Burks will teach the “New Testament Letters and Revelation” for priests and catechists (Cohort A), continuing from the positively received course on the Gospels and Acts last fall. This class will be offered in person, online virtually, or online by video.
Students interested in possible transfer credit toward an M.A. for either of these courses through the University of Mary or the Augustine Institute should talk with one of the Emmaus staff members.
In addition to the “Creation to New Creation” cohort tracks, Emmaus will offer two community courses (open to everyone) this spring. In support of the Eucharistic Revival, Chad Steiner will teach a five-week, free-of-charge class, "‘Eucharist’ as a Theme Throughout Sacred Scripture," on Wednesdays, 6:30 to 8 p.m., beginning Feb. 21.
Finally, Emmaus president Dr. Vern Steiner will offer a 10-week class, “Ten Chapters All Catholics Should Know Like the Back of Their Hand” on Thursdays, 6:30 to 8 p.m., beginning Feb. 22.
Full course descriptions and registration details are available at www.emmausinstitute.net. All classes are held in the Emmaus classrooms in the Calvert Office Park, 3601 Calvert, Suite 23, in Lincoln, and all are available both in person and online. Although in-person students will have free and convenient access to the online recordings, for the blessings and benefits of learning in community the Institute encourages personal attendance and participation for students within reasonable driving distance.
The Emmaus faculty will also offer a weekend retreat, “Praying with Scripture; Encountering the Word,” Feb. 23-25, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House in Waverly, with details and registration available at www.goodcounselretreat.org.
