Catholic Social Services of Southern Nebraska (CSS) reported to police Feb. 8 the vandalism of a statue that stood at the front of its building near 23rd and O streets in Lincoln.
CSS spokesman John Soukup said an employee discovered the 5-foot-tall resin statue of the Virgin Mary, placed upside down, in a nearby trash bin on the property.

Security video shows what appears to be a male suspect prying the statue from its platform at around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7. The statue was attached to the platform with a cement adhesive. While the statue was not significantly damaged, Lincoln police have been contacted and are investigating. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Lincoln Police Department.
