Dr. Vern Steiner, president of the Emmaus Institute for Biblical Studies in Lincoln, will give a presentation April 5 on Dei Verbum, the Dogmatic Constitution on Divine Revelation from the Second Vatican Council.
The presentation will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the John XXIII Center, 3700 Sheridan Blvd., Lincoln. It will be followed by a reception. Tickets are $10 per person, available at www.lincolndiocese.org/V2.
Steiner’s talk is part of an ongoing series presented in collaboration with the Emmaus Institute, the diocesan Office of Religious Education and the Newman Institute for Catholic Thought and Culture. In preparation for the universal Church’s Jubilee Year in 2025, the Holy See asked that the faithful begin to know and study the four constitutions of the Second Vatican Council.
The first talk in the series was held in December. Bishop Emeritus Fabian Bruskewitz, who served as an usher during the last session of the Second Vatican Council, shared his experiences and recollections at the council.
Dei Verbum, “Word of God,” is the Dogmatic Constitution on Divine Revelation, the interaction of Sacred Scripture and Sacred Tradition.
Jeff Schinstock, director of religious education for the Catholic Diocese of Lincoln, wrote a column announcing the series last fall.
“The Church has again scrutinized the signs of our times and asked us to return to these documents and discern together how to be the light of the gospel in these times,” he said. “I look forward to taking the journey with you.”
