St. Mary Parish in David City held a parish mission, “Encountering Christ in the Poor and the Eucharist, March 19-21.

Each evening, there was a catered meal in the gym followed by prayer in the church. Danny Leger from Hope of the Poor, a songwriter, recording artist and speaker, provided inspiration by leading praise and worship. Then, a guest priest shared personal insights after exposing the Blessed Sacrament.

On Tuesday, Father Carson Kain shared his devotion to St. Joseph. Wednesday, Father Allan Phan spoke of his healing experiences while serving the poor in Mexico City. On Thursday, Father William Holoubek led the congregation in understanding each person’s call to pray for healing. Marian Sisters were available to offer personal, private prayer.

Sister Mary Kansier, M.S., said the event was well received by parishioners. She said one woman who has an hour of adoration each week said it was particularly meaningful to pray before the exposed Blessed Sacrament with fellow parishioners.

St. Mary Parish is planning its annual variety show Saturday, April 13, at Aquinas High School. The doors open at 5 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6 p.m., with a show at 7 p.m. The theme is “Fabulous 50’s.” Advanced dinner tickets are available until April 7 at the St. Mary Parish office, 402-367-3579, 580 I St. in David City.
