All women are invited to discover the beauty of the rosary during a retreat at Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House in Waverly May 10-11.
The retreat, “Let’s Talk Roses,” will be led by Janette Howe, foundress of the Seven Sisters Apostolate.
“Whether you’re a lifelong rosary ‘pray-er,’ or just beginning this powerful devotion, you’ll come away spiritually nourished and inspired to let the rosary bloom in your daily life,” Howe said.
Howe is a registered nurse and holds a master’s degree in theological studies from Ave Maria University. Janette and her husband Jeff have two adult children, including their son Father Spencer, a priest ordained in 2013 for the Archdiocese of St Paul-Minneapolis. She has initiated two apostolates: Truth Himself, founded in the 2004-05 Year of the Eucharist, which aims to cultivate knowledge, love and service of the Eucharistic Lord; and the Seven Sisters Apostolate, fostering prayer for priests in Eucharistic adoration.
A Seven Sisters group is seven women who each pray a weekly holy hour for a particular priest. The diocesan group’s goal is for every priest and bishop in the Lincoln Diocese to have a group covering them with prayers. To learn more about the Seven Sisters Apostolate, text or call diocesan coordinator Rhonda Litt at 402-525-6396, or visit sevensistersapostolate.org.
The rosary retreat starts Friday, May 10 with 7 p.m. Mass and an 8 p.m. talk, and concludes Saturday with a 6 p.m. supper. Women of all ages are invited, and not just those in a Seven Sisters group.
Other upcoming retreats are “Back to the Garden” for young adult women April 19-21 with Father Cole Kennett and Sarina Stokes; 4-, 5- or 8-day Ignatian directed retreats May 3-10 with Stokes or Matt Simmons; “Women’s Spiritual Exercises” with Traditional Latin Mass (TLM) June 7-9; and “Men’s Spiritual Exercises” with TLM June 14-16.
