A cast of 30 youth and adults from 10 Lincoln-area parishes is preparing to perform the play “Frassati,” a tribute to Bl. Pier Giorgio Frassati, who will be canonized in 2025.

The production is written and directed by Patsy Urbanovsky, a member of St. Mary Parish in Denton.

Bl. Pier Giorgio Frassati was a handsome, fun-loving, courageous and devout Catholic, born into a prominent Italian family. His friends called him an “explosion of joy.” He died at 24, and has become a model for lay people all over the world. St. John Paul II declared him a patron for World Youth Days and deemed him the “Man of the Beatitudes,” as he exemplified those blessings in his everyday life. St. John Paul II beatified Pier Giorgio Frassati in 1990.

“Pier Giorgio Frassati is relatable to all because, really, he was an ordinary Christian who found holiness in everyday life,” Urbanovsky said.

Performances of “Frassati” will be held Oct. 3, 4 and 5 at 7 p.m., and Oct 6 at 2 p.m., at a building on private property. Located at 1800 SW 56th St., Lincoln, the location will provide ample seating, and there are no stairs. Free-will donations will be accepted. Tickets must be reserved in advance at Eventbrite.com or by calling Sandra at (402) 937-4467.

Franz Jagerstatter; “Blessed Michael McGivney and the Founding of the Knights of Columbus,” “The Leseur Love Story” on Servant of God Elisabeth Leseur, and “The Pearl of York” on St. Margaret Clitherow.
