The annual Bishops’ Pro-Life Banquet and Conference will be held in Lincoln Nov. 22 and 23. The theme is “I Fear Nothing”: Pro-Life Evangelization in a Modern Age.
The event is hosted by the Nebraska Catholic Conference, which advocates for the public policy priorities of the Catholic Church and advances the Gospel of Life through engaging, educating, and empowering public officials, the Catholic faithful, and the general public.
“In both our culture and government, we’ve been tirelessly advocating for the protection and respect of all human life, especially for mothers and preborn children,” said Paige Brown, statewide pro-life activities coordinator. “With abortion taking center stage on the ballot for Nebraskans this November, the future of our state is uncertain.
“As we consider this and other challenges in our modern age,” she continued, “it’s easy to be overcome by fear. This is why we are adopting St. Joan of Arc as our patroness for this year’s banquet and conference. Her spirit and example are a true model for how we can face the challenges in front of us as we cultivate a culture of life. We want her words ever on our minds and hearts: ‘I fear nothing, for God is with me.’”
The banquet and conference will be the first major pro-life event after the vote on the abortion-related ballot initiatives in November.
This year’s keynote speaker is Greg Schleppenbach, executive director for The Culture Project. Schleppenbach served the Nebraska Catholic Conference and led pro-life efforts for 25 years.
“Greg has played an incredible role in shaping the pro-life landscape in Nebraska,” Brown said. “We’re excited for Greg’s return to Nebraska, and for the wisdom he will share with us this year!”
The pro-life banquet and conference will be a chance for participants to gain a deeper commitment to pro-life battles ahead and to be better formed to evangelize others in the modern age, to change laws and save lives in the state.
More details, the conference agenda and registration information will be released in coming weeks.
