A team of eight priests representing the Diocese of Lincoln finished in first place Sept. 28 in the religious division of the annual Market to Market® Relay Nebraska, the largest day-long relay in the nation.
The team beat 18 other teams in the religious division. The priests also finished 18th out of 700 teams overall.
The Market to Market race takes teams from the Omaha metro to downtown Lincoln, on a course of around 75 miles. Each team takes on running stages, each stage varying in distance from 3 to 5 miles.
Priests of the Diocese of Lincoln have run as a team in the Market to Market Relay since 2013. This year’s team, sponsored by the Serra Club of Lincoln, consisted of Father Nicholas Kipper (captain), Father Denton Morris, Father Liam O’Shea-Creal, Father Matthew Rolling, Father Cyrus Rowan, Father Matthew Schilmoeller, Father Mitchell Schleis, and Father Tony Schukei.
Serran Bill Stull drove the team to each of the stages in the relay.
