Diocesan communicators will have the opportunity to get together to learn and share about their work this month.

A communications workshop will be held Thursday, Oct. 24, from noon to 2:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Church in Lincoln. The workshop is being presented by the Office of Communications of the Catholic Diocese of Lincoln and is open to anyone who works with communications for schools, parishes and organizations with the diocese.

“We wanted to give those in communications in the diocese the opportunity to get together and meet each other,” said Dennis Kellogg, director of communications for the diocese. “It can be helpful to know who is doing the same job you are doing at another parish or school, so when questions come up, you have someone who may have had the same experience and can help.”

The workshop will include a keynote address via Zoom from Emily Ricci, founder and CEO of Gloriam Marketing. Ricci works with more than 100 Catholic parishes and businesses nationwide on communicating the faith. There will also be a discussion of best practices for communicators in our diocese. A light lunch will be served.

“This is an opportunity for those who put together the weekly bulletin, create the school newsletter, or work in any way with communications in our diocese to share best practices and ask questions about issues they are struggling with,” Kellogg said. “Hopefully it’s the first of more gatherings with this group in the future, either in-person, online or both.”

Anyone who works with communication efforts in the diocese – including priests, religious and lay employees and volunteers – is invited to attend. Register online by Tuesday, Oct. 15.
