To the Lincoln Diocesan Council of Catholic Women,

The last Sunday of October is considered to be LDCCW Sunday. It is a time to recognize each of you for your tireless service to the Church. As being a part of a group over 22,000 women in the diocese, I find myself in awe of the spirit of joy that comes from you. You are amazing!

You are able to move from being both Mary and Martha. When asked to pray for the needs of a family member or parishioner, it is without hesitation you quickly drop to your knees. Prayer is always first as a woman of the LDCCW. During my term, it is exciting to know the Seven Sister Apostolate is encouraged in the parishes. It is a blessing knowing our priests are being cared for with prayer.

The women come together during monthly for their PCCW meetings or quarterly for diocesan meetings. The joy in fellowship with the women feed their soul a joy in the commonality of faith that we share when we are together. These meetings are not business meetings but a celebration of the talents we share. Christ is truly present. During our diocesan meetings, friendships formed many years ago are rekindled when we meet. Much like Martha, business meetings are important but there is always a passion to do God’s work.

We are truly blessed to be able to visit so many churches in our diocese for our meetings. The recent meeting to St Catherine in Indianola was beautiful! The PCCWs of St. Patrick in McCook and St. Catherine pulled together a meal that would have made St. Martha proud.

The LDCCW allows us, the women, to come together across the diocese from border to border. We have come to recognize not all are on Central Standard Time and make adjustments; in the same way, we appreciate our unique personalities. We as sisters in Christ, we recognize the ability to disagree and come together in a mutual agreement because the end goal is to proclaim the kingdom of God.

As your president, my projects are to support the Pregnancy Center and provide spiritual bouquets to insure God keeps them and their clients safe. Please remember to support the Bishop’s Project - The Chancery Library.
