Magnificat of Lincoln plans a prayer meal Nov. 9, featuring Father Matthew Schilmoeller as speaker.

The event will be held from 9:30 a.m. to noon at Hillcrest Country Club, 9401 “O” St. in Lincoln. The morning includes breakfast, prayer, praise and worship, and Father Schilmoeller’s testimony and witness.

Father Schilmoeller was raised in Lincoln, graduating from North American Martyrs Elementary and from Pius X High School in 2014. He then attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and later the University of South Dakota.

Prompted by a “Come and See” weekend at St. Gregory the Great Seminary in Seward, Father Schilmoeller began his formation for the priesthood at St. Gregory the Great in 2016. He graduated from St. Gregory the Great in 2019 and then attended the Pontifical North American College in Rome.

Father Schilmoeller is currently assistant pastor at St. John the Apostle Parish in Lincoln. He also teaches senior theology at Pius X.

At the Nov. 9 prayer meal, Father Schilmoeller will share his faith journey and vocation story. After breakfast, there will be a teaching and a time of prayer, praise and worship.

Magnificat is a ministry to Catholic women, a private association of the faithful within the Catholic Church under the jurisdiction of the Lincoln Diocese. Women of other Christian faiths are welcome to attend.

Since the first Magnificat prayer meal in New Orleans in 1981, Magnificat has become an international ministry, with chapters currently located in the United States, Canada, the Caribbean, Malta, Poland, and Africa. Magnificat of Lincoln, the Morningstar Chapter, held its first prayer meal March 9, 1996.

The primary purpose of Magnificat is to help Christian women become more open to the Holy Spirit through a deeper commitment of their lives to Jesus as Lord and to impart the Holy Spirit to one another by love, service and sharing the good news of salvation.
