As teachers from across the Catholic Diocese of Lincoln gathered at the annual Teachers’ Institute Oct. 14, a group from Sacred Heart School in Falls City celebrated in a special way.
Three Sacred Heart teachers were able to celebrate with their daughters—all first-year teachers in diocesan schools. Pictured are (from left) Mackensie Nelson, 2020 graduate and first-year teacher at Sacred Heart in Falls City; Betsy Nelson, Mackensie’s mom, who has taught at Sacred Heart for 22 years; Emily Wertenberger, 2020 graduate and first-year teacher at Lourdes Central in Nebraska City; Christina Wertenberger, Emily’s mom, who has taught at Sacred Heart for 16 years; Ahren (Ebel) Klement, 2019 graduate and first-year teacher at Aquinas in David City; Sue Ahrens-Ebel, Ahren’s mom, who has taught at Sacred Heart for 32 years.
