The detailed display, which is more than 28 feet long, will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., daily from Dec. 22 until Jan. 10, 2025. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the beloved tradition, a testament to the faith, love, and collaborative spirit of the community.

The nativity scene not only celebrates the birth of Christ – and elements of his life, death and resurrection on Earth – but also reflects His enduring love and compassion through the charitable efforts it supports. Over the years, donations from nativity visitors have helped build a church in a remote Kenyan village, supported orphaned children with HIV, and assisted neighbors in need in Lincoln, through the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.

“It is our hope that the construction and unveiling of this year’s nativity will be a joyful and blessed occasion, inspiring all who participate and visit to continue this profound tradition of faith and charity,” said Jose Herrero, one of the organizers.

He said this year’s dedication of the nativity to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul aligns with the spirit of service and giving, reminding all people of the call to care for others during times of hardship.

The tradition of the nativity, rooted in the life and vision of St. Francis of Assisi, dates to 1223 in the Italian town of Greccio.

“His humble nativity reenactment lives on in our monumental display,” Herrero said, “built through countless hours of dedication by volunteers from across four continents.”
