Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House in Waverly will present a retreat Feb. 15-16 for men and women, entitled “The Joy of Forgiveness.”

The retreat begins Saturday, Feb. 15 at 9 a.m., and ends Sunday with a noon lunch. It will be led by Sandy Hoenig, a nationally certified counselor and retreat leader.

Hoenig will guide participants through understanding what forgiveness truly is, how to forgive oneself and others, and how to overcome emotional barriers to healing. Participants will also engage in activities, a service with prayers for healing, as well as Mass, Eucharistic adoration, and confession.

The retreat is designed to offer a unique opportunity to explore forgiveness as a source of personal empowerment and healing.

The retreat center provides a tranquil setting for reflection and renewal, with 50 private rooms offering comfort and privacy. Meals and accommodations are included, and financial assistance or parish sponsorships are available to make the retreat accessible to everyone.

Hoenig has led workshops, retreats, and presentations on the joy of forgiveness for more than 15 years. She offers insight from her personal experiences and her background in teaching and school counseling. A nationally certified counselor and conflict resolution facilitator, she holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Drake University. More information is available on her website, www.joyofforgiveness.com.
