Men in the Catholic Diocese of Lincoln are invited to participate in a “Catholic Men’s Leadership Summit” Feb. 22.

Events will be held at an eastern site – North American Martyrs Parish in Lincoln; a central site – St. Cecilia in Hastings; and a western site – St. Patrick in McCook.

The goal of the summit is to assist men in understanding their mission as a Catholic man, and to develop a strategy to successfully fulfill their duty as a Catholic man personally, in their families, in their parishes, and in their communities.

“And maybe most importantly, you will learn how to form or join your team of brothers who will accompany you on this mission,” said Bob Sullivan, one of the organizers.

“Catholic men have more resources available to us than at any time since Christ’s ascension into Heaven,” he added. “The challenge is to find the resource that fits the needs of the men in your parish or deanery.… At the Leadership Summit, we can provide you with an abundance of resources as well as a way to get together with men in your area, including your pastor, to select something which resonates with your group.”

The summit is open to men who are currently in leadership roles in their parishes, or who have the skills and gifts to potentially become leaders.

The day will begin with Mass at 7 a.m., followed by registration and breakfast at 7:30 a.m.

Presentations will take place in Lincoln and be broadcast to the other locations. Bishop James Conley will address the men at 8 a.m. and the first speaker – Father Ed Hopkins, L.C., will present at 8:30 a.m.

Adoration will take place at 10:15 a.m., with confessions available. Small groups will meet at 10:50 a.m. Father Hopkins will give another address at 11:15 a.m., before lunch.

Small groups will meet again after lunch, followed by speaker Dan Donaldson at 1:30 p.m. His talk will be followed by small group meetings and adoration. The concluding remarks and benediction will take place at 4:30 p.m.

“Since being appointed as the bishop of this great diocese in 2012, I have been inspired by the faith of so many Catholic men across southern Nebraska,” said Bishop Conley. “I am very excited to see that a group of men from our diocese have banded together to begin to build even more brotherhood within the diocese, a brotherhood which includes men who are already strong and active disciples, as well as those who desire to become stronger and more active.”

Those interested in attending may register at https://mensministry.regfox.com/catholic-mens-leadership-summit. Men must register by Feb. 1 to be guaranteed breakfast and lunch. Free-will offerings will be accepted.
