School Sisters of Christ the King to host ‘Renew the Bride, the Church’
Southern Nebraska Register
Father John Burns, nationally known for speaking at events such as SEEK and the National Eucharistic Congress, will present a conference for the laity called “Renew the Bride, the Church” March 1 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Church in Lincoln.
Father Burns was ordained a priest of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee in 2010. He became concerned that the presence of consecrated women religious in the Church was diminishing and that support for young women called to consecrated life was often lacking. In 2022, he was assigned to fully devote his time to fostering religious life and vocations and established an apostolate called Friends of the Bridegroom. Its mission is to renew the Church through the healing, renewal, and expansion of women’s religious life in America.
On March 1, the faithful of the diocese are invited and encouraged to come and learn how they can play a part in the work of renewal, and help establish a strong culture of vocational discernment among young women and within the family.
Sponsored by the School Sisters of Christ the King, the event will include talks by Father John Burns, as well as opportunities for discussion with women religious of the diocese. For more information, or to register, visit www.cksisters.org/contact-us/events.
