More Mercy is a lay initiative founded by Max Chapman, who served as a missionary with the Fellowship of Catholic University Students (FOCUS) for seven years at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The initiative, with its goal to “Restore Christian unity through Truth and Love” has the full support of Bishop James Conley.

Chapmain said More Mercy presented an ecumenism workshop in December.

“We received a lot of positive feedback,” he said, “along with people asking us to lead future workshops on specific topics.”

The April 12 event, he said, will equip people with practical conversation templates related to “How do I start the conversation?” “What do I say in the initial discussion if someone agrees to meet with me?” and “Why is the pursuit of Truth important for Christians and how can it be done in a way that is non-combative?”

He said More Mercy encourages Christians from all faith traditions to come.

“If you have friends or family that you would like to engage in meaningful faith conversations with, this will hopefully be a great opportunity for you,” he said.

The April 12 workshop will include free breakfast, so RSVPs are requested. Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. in the church and the workshop will take place from 9:45 to 11:30 a.m. .
