Henry Stuhr, a senior at Bishop Neumann High School in Wahoo, was the final speaker of the academic year for the Adoration Club at St. Wenceslaus Elementary in Wahoo.

In his talk for the K-6 students, Stuhr said it wasn’t long ago that he was sitting in the very same pews, wondering how he was supposed to be friends with someone – Jesus – he couldn’t even see! But, Stuhr said, attending Masses as a grade school student were when he began forming that friendship with Jesus. He said he was most grateful for serving at Mass as a young student, to help him know who Jesus was.

Stuhr’s high school experience at Bishop Neumann has also grown his faith. He encouraged the students to grow closer to Jesus over the summer by wearing a cross or a scapular, or riding their bike to church to sit with Jesus.

Stuhr told the students that on his track spikes, he wrote, “Meet me where I am, Lord!” God “wants to be where we are,” he told the students. He closed by asking them, “Will you carry the Lord with you?”

Stuhr plans to enter St. Gregory the Great Seminary in Seward in the fall.
