Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House in Waverly is offering a unique opportunity for busy people to “slow down” this summer.
From June 1 through July 31, the retreat house invites people from all walks of life to experience its “Busy Person Retreats” – an online, guided spiritual journey designed for those who long to deepen their relationship with God but can’t step away from daily responsibilities.
Participants choose a three- to eight-day stretch within the two-month window and commit to a short but meaningful daily rhythm: 30–45 minutes of personal prayer with scripture; 10–15 minutes of journaling; a 30-minute virtual conversation with a trained spiritual director; all begun with a 40-minute opening video to help participants begin.
The retreat is inspired by the wisdom of St. Ignatius of Loyola, who recognized that spiritual growth doesn’t always require stepping away from life, it can happen right in the midst of it.
The retreat team includes experienced directors: Father Gary Coulter, Matt Simmons, Sarina Stokes, Jo Vasa, and Father Christopher Barak. They’ll walk with participants, one-on-one, helping them listen more deeply to how God may be working in one’s life.
The cost is $60, with financial help available if needed. Participants are also encouraged to offer a personal gift or stipend to their spiritual director in appreciation. To register or learn more, visit goodcounselretreat.org or call 402-786-2705.
