Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House will host the inaugural “Ignite the Fire Festival” June 21 at The Oaks, 13611 Pioneers Blvd., Walton.
The faith-filled event invites individuals and families to experience a day of community, music, and spiritual enrichment.
The Oaks is a 100-acre property developed by Mathew Kleinschmit. He transformed the land, home to more than 16,000 oak trees, into a unique venue for community gatherings and personal reflection, just minutes from Lincoln.
The June 21 festival will begin at 4 p.m. with an outdoor Corpus Christi Mass and Eucharistic procession. From 5 to 7:45 p.m., attendees can participate in a variety of family-friendly activities, including live Christian music, local food trucks, yard games, Christian vendors, fireside chats, and a human foosball tournament. Those interested in putting together a team for the human foosball tournament may visit the retreat house website for registration details.
The evening will conclude with an 8 p.m. concert by VOTA, a high-energy Christian band led by Bryan Olesen, former guitarist for the Newsboys and finalist on The Voice Season 25.
Admission is $5 per person or $25 per family, with free entry for children aged 2 and under. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs for seating. In the event of inclement weather, the festival will be held the following day, Sunday, June 22.
Volunteers are welcome and will receive complimentary admission, a volunteer t-shirt, a meal, and a 10% discount on a future retreat. Sponsorship opportunities are also available to support this community event.
