Retreat house’s annual celebration dinner to shine with faith, testimony, purpose

Southern Nebraska Register

Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House in Waverly invites the community to its annual Magnificat Celebration Dinner Friday, Sept. 12, at Wilderness Ridge Country Club in Lincoln.

This year’s theme, “Armed with Light,” drawn from Romans 13:12, “Put on the armor of light,” highlights the call to live with clarity, courage, and conviction in an increasingly dark and confusing world.

The event begins with a social and cocktail hour at 5 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m., and a program at 7 p.m.

A panel of spiritual directors – Father Christopher Barak, Matt Simmons, and Sarina Stokes – will share wisdom and practical guidance on how to stand strong in the modern world with the light of Christ. Their insights will offer encouragement to live boldly and faithfully amid spiritual challenges.

“This dinner is more than a fundraiser,” said Amanda Weeder, marketing coordinator. “It’s a celebration of the spiritual battles being fought and won every day through Christ and a reminder that we are not alone. We are armed with His light.”

Proceeds from the event support the ongoing mission of Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House in Waverly, ensuring that retreats, spiritual formation, and sacred hospitality remain accessible to thousands each year.

Tickets, tables, and sponsorship opportunities are now available. To RSVP or learn more, visit www.goodcounselretreat.org/dinner or call 402-786-2705.
