The Knights of the Holy Eucharist, with Father Matthew Eickhoff, will host a Eucharistic adoration retreat at Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House in Waverly Oct. 3-5.
The event begins Friday with a rosary and Mass at 8 p.m. and concludes Sunday with lunch at noon.
The retreat is designed as a weekend of deep spiritual renewal centered on the healing love of Jesus in the Eucharist. It will follow a format of Eucharistic spiritual exercises, including scriptural meditations in front of the Blessed Sacrament, daily Mass, opportunities for confession, and spiritual direction.
“The goal of the retreat is the renewal of our spiritual life through a profound experience of the healing love of the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus,” said Brother David Mary, community servant of the Knights.
Founded by Mother Mary Angelica in 1998, the Knights of the Holy Eucharist are Franciscan religious brothers dedicated to promoting reverent devotion to the Blessed Sacrament. Since their arrival in the Diocese of Lincoln in 2016, the Knights have been instrumental in strengthening perpetual adoration efforts and encouraging the faithful to encounter Christ through this powerful practice.
Bishop James Conley, a strong advocate for Eucharistic adoration, affirms its transformative effect on individuals and communities.
“Eucharistic adoration provides individuals an opportunity to spend time with Jesus—not only to express our love and gratitude to Him for His countless blessings, but also to allow Jesus to love us back, and to heal our spiritual infirmities,” he said. “Those who spend time in Eucharistic adoration receive countless graces and blessings.”
The retreat is part of a larger movement within the Church to foster Eucharistic Revival. A recent example of its impact can be seen at St. Cecilia Parish in Hastings, where parishioners have attributed a surge in vocations to their 24/7 Eucharistic adoration program.
“There is a real and tangible hunger for a deeper relationship with our Lord,” Brother David added. “This is made possible by the holiness of our bishops, priests, and religious who have instilled a yearning in our diocese to seek Christ wholeheartedly.”
The retreat is open to seasoned adorers or those new to the practice. Participants will leave with a renewed spirit and a deeper love for Jesus in the Eucharist.
