Magnificat of Lincoln plans a prayer meal Nov. 22, featuring Father Jim Morin as speaker.

The event will be held from 9:30 a.m. to noon at Hillcrest Country Club, 9401 “O” St. in Lincoln. The morning includes breakfast, prayer, praise and worship, and Father Morin’s testimony and witness.

Father Morin is vice chancellor of the Catholic Diocese of Lincoln. He is also dean of men and an instructor of theology and Latin at St. Gregory the Gregory Seminary in Seward. He was born in Lincoln and attended St. Teresa Elementary and graduated from Pius X High School.

Father Morin spent four years in Rome studying theology as a seminarian, and returned for a final year of study after his ordination in May 2016 to finish a license degree in patristics. After three years back in the United States, he returned to Rome and completed a doctoral program in canon law at the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome.

At the Nov. 22 prayer meal, Father Morin will share his testimony. There will be a teaching by Father Robert Barnhill, spiritual advisor to Magnificat, and a time of prayer, praise and worship.

Magnificat is a ministry to Catholic women, a private association of the faithful within the Catholic Church under the jurisdiction of the Lincoln Diocese. Women of other Christian faiths are welcome to attend.

Since the first Magnificat prayer meal in New Orleans in 1981, Magnificat has become an international ministry, with chapters currently located in the United States, Canada, the Caribbean, Malta, Poland, and Africa. Magnificat of Lincoln, the Morningstar Chapter, held its first prayer meal March 9, 1996.

The primary purpose of Magnificat is to help Christian women become more open to the Holy Spirit through a deeper commitment of their lives to Jesus as Lord and to impart the Holy Spirit to one another by love, service and sharing the good news of salvation.
