Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House in Waverly invites men and women to step into a weekend of healing, renewal, and emotional freedom at the “Joy of Forgiveness” retreat Jan. 24-25, led by longtime presenter Sandy Hoenig of Winterset, Iowa.

For more than 25 years, Sandy has walked alongside people seeking peace in the midst of hurt, offering tools for letting go and stories that illuminate the strength found in forgiveness.

Throughout the weekend, Hoening will guide retreatants through the true meaning of forgiveness—what forgiveness is, what it is not, and how the act of forgiving can become a profound source of personal empowerment. Participants will explore why people hurt one another, how to respond with wisdom and grace, and what it means to forgive oneself. The retreat includes reflective activities, music, prayer, and a healing service that invites individuals to make an intentional choice to release what burdens them.

The retreat begins Saturday at 9 a.m. and concludes Sunday with noon lunch. Mass, Eucharistic adoration and confessions are included, offering a sacred atmosphere where hope can take root and new beginnings can unfold.

Those seeking emotional freedom, closure, or a fresh start are encouraged to attend the weekend retreat to discover that forgiveness is not merely an idea, but a journey of courage, healing, and deep inner peace.
