LDCCW plans winter symposium

Southern Nebraska Register

Catholic women across the Diocese of Lincoln are invited to gather for a winter symposium hosted by the Lincoln Diocesan Council of Catholic Women (LDCCW).

It will be held Jan. 30–31, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House in Waverly.

The two-day symposium will begin Friday, Jan. 30, at 6 p.m., and conclude Saturday around 3:30 p.m. Designed for women of all ages, the event offers a unique blend of prayer, formation and fellowship. Participants may attend Friday or Saturday, or both days.

Unlike a traditional silent retreat, the winter symposium emphasizes connection and discussion alongside prayer. The format allows women to grow in friendship with Christ and with one another while sharing gifts, ideas, and zeal for service within their parishes and communities.

Friday evening will include a keynote talk followed by Eucharistic adoration, prayer, worship, time for fellowship and refreshments. Registration opens at 4:30 p.m., with an optional bring-your-own-meal fellowship opportunity at 5 p.m. The evening concludes with informal gathering and conversation.

Saturday’s program runs from 9:15 a.m. to approximately 3:30 p.m. and will feature devotions, guest speakers, Mass and lunch.
Founded in 1932 by Bishop Louis B. Kucera, the Lincoln Diocesan Council of Catholic Women operates under the direction of the diocesan bishop and serves the spiritual and corporal needs of others through prayer and action. The annual winter symposium continues this mission by encouraging Catholic women to deepen their faith while strengthening bonds of community.

Registration is now open. More information and registration details are available through Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House. Visit goodcounselretreat.org or call 402-786-2705.
