The UNL Thomistic Institute will present “How to Drink Like a Saint: A Catholic Theology of Feasting” Wednesday, Feb. 11, at 6 p.m.
The talk, by Dr. Michael Foley, professor of patristics at Baylor University, is free and open to the public. It will take place in the Willa Cather Dining Complex in Red Cloud Room B/C, 530 N. 17th St., Lincoln. Parking is available on the street or in the 17th & R public parking garage two blocks south of Cather.
The Thomistic Institute is a national network of student-led academic clubs sponsored by the Dominican House of Studies in Washington, D.C. The Institute exists to “promote Catholic truth in our contemporary world by strengthening the intellectual formation of Christians at universities, in the Church, and in the wider public square.”
The chapter at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln is one of more than 80 Thomistic Institute chapters across the U.S. and abroad. Dr. Geoffrey Friesen, associate professor of finance, serves as faculty advisor.
The chapters, Dr. Friesen said, continue the work of St. Thomas Aquinas, offering students and community members a space where faith and reason meet in pursuit of truth.
