Camp Kateri Tekakwitha in McCool Junction will have a “Registration Push Day” Easter Monday, April 6.

The diocesan camp will offer a 10% off discount for SKY High Camps and 5% off for all other camps. Registration is available at www.campkateri.org. The discount promo code is: HEISRISEN.

“This is a great opportunity to save on registration costs and try something new this summer,” said Jacob Brouillette, director of the camp.

Summer camps provide a life-changing experience for youth, he said. He reflected on his own experience as a camper and counselor at Camp Kateri, and the influence it had on his own Catholic faith.

“I knew that every time I went to camp, I would be surrounded by nature, amazing Catholics, and get to experience the sacraments in powerful and incredible ways,” he said. “As I would return home, I would realize how much joy I experienced and how all the people I was around were holy and had a relationship with Jesus. I learned I could have that too! Because of this, I started diving deeper into my faith. I started praying more, going to more retreats and started striving for virtue in my life.”

Camp Kateri aims to extend this opportunity to as many campers as possible, so they can experience the joys and adventures available at Camp Kateri every summer. Brouillette said a missionary staff of 18 are ready to show campers “what a life with Christ can look like.”

“Camp offers high adventure, high competition, and transformative faith experiences,” he said. “This is necessary in displaying to our campers that our faith is not boring, but alive and full of adventure!”

Most importantly, campers grow in their faith, so they can live it out back home in their daily lives.

“Camp is a commitment that can change lives,” Brouillette said. “It might happen in one camp, it might happen after a few. When campers are open to the change that can happen, the spark in their eyes returns and they are filled with life as they return home. We want everyone who arrives at camp to fall in love with Jesus and desire to be a saint.”

The Registration Push Day is April 6. The date camper registrations incur a late fee is May 8. The first summer camps begin May 28.

Counselor applications close May 3, and counselor training will be held May 27 and 28.

Camp Kateri also welcomes volunteers to the annual Camp Work Day May 2, beginning at 9 a.m.

Participants will cut and clear trees for firewood, clean and detail buildings, prepare trails, and tidy up camp so it is ready for campers.

“We need volunteers and equipment,” Brouillette said, “so bring your gloves, chainsaws, bobcats, anything you think will be helpful to make camp beautiful.”

Lunch will be provided for all volunteers at camp,1305 Road 3 McCool Junction, NE 68401.
