More Mercy plans an ecumenical workshop Saturday, April 25, at Catholic Social Services of Southern Nebraska, 2241 O St., Lincoln.
Ecumenism is the promotion of the restoration of unity among all Christians.
The goal of More Mercy, a lay initiative founded by Max Chapman, is to “Restore Christian unity through Truth and Love” in accordance with Catholic Church teaching. The initiative has the support of Bishop James Conley.
The April 25 workshop intends to model healthy ecumenical collaboration with Christians of other faith traditions while also providing tools and outlets to live mission. The event will feature Atlas, a Christian ministry which seeks to walk relationally with hurting people.
Brody Van Roekel, Atlas director, will discuss accompanying hurting people, share discipleship tools and offer an invitation to become an Atlas Peer Mentor.
Chapman will discuss accompanying Christians of other faith traditions, share ecumenical tools and offer an invitation to become a Parish Ecumenical Officer.
Mass will precede the workshop at 8:30 a.m. The workshop will begin at 9 a.m. with breakfast. Atlas and ecumenism training will take place from 9:15 to the conclusion of the workshop at 11 a.m.
