A healing retreat for female survivors of abuse, titled “The Way,” will be offered July 17-19 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House in Waverly.

“The Way” is a three-day, guided meditation and prayer experience designed for women whose abuse by another has deeply affected the heart, mind, body and soul. The Christian-based retreat welcomes women of all faith backgrounds. The retreat will be directed by Sue Stubbs, developer of The Way Healing Retreat, and supported by professional counselors, a priest, and trained volunteers.

The Way retreats have been offered in the Archdiocese of Atlanta for more than 10 years. The first retreat hosted by the Nebraska retreat team was held in 2019.

An anonymous participant encouraged women considering the retreat to attend: “I would tell anyone considering attending the retreat to put aside any fears, anxieties or hesitations and attend. I would tell them it is well worth the investment of their time and money. The healing that can come from being in fellowship with others who have experienced similar abuse is something rare; something difficult to put into words.”

She continued: “The information provided at the retreat and the acceptance of the presenters, as well as the attendees, gives you a safe, unique place to heal.”
