If you knew that spending a little bit of your time praying could save lives, would you commit the time? This is not hyperbole, it is fact. Every day that abortions are committed at one of the three abortion mills in Nebraska, volunteers come to pray. And as a result, lives are saved.
How do we know this? Because, praise be to God, women occasionally tell us that our prayerful presence is what prompted them to change their mind and choose life.
Just in the last few weeks, there were two such instances at the Lincoln Planned Parenthood abortion mill. Jack Odgaard, who represents Helpers of God’s Precious Infants, is a regular pray-er on abortion days and provides reports on activity at this abortion mill.
In his most recent report Jack shared this happy news: "Two weeks ago, a woman came out of the Lincoln clinic about 11:30 a.m. and walked toward half a dozen people who were praying. She said she thought they would like to know that she was going to keep her baby.
"This past week, a couple arrived around 9:15 a.m. and walked over to talk to a sidewalk counselor. The security guard told them they could not park on the premises if they left the property. They went inside briefly and then came back out and walked over to the counselor who gave them the address of Lincoln Crisis Pregnancy Center. They said they would go there, got in their car and drove off."
In another recent report, Jack mentioned that 200 people (90 percent of which were college and high school students) gathered for a prayer vigil on a Monday night prior to an abortion day. It was the second such prayer vigil sponsored by the pro-life club at the University of Nebraska Newman Center.
The next day, Jack reports, "the number of abortion clients was much lower than for previous weeks." Previous abortion days saw an average of 16-17 abortion victims. But on the day after this prayer vigil, that number was down to 11. "Another good sign [of the impact of the prayer vigil] was the increased number of people who came to pray" the next day, Jack reported.
I receive a similar report from Liz Miller who coordinates "sidewalk counselors" at Leroy Carhart’s abortion mill in Bellevue. She also reports about women being "saved" from abortion at both of Carhart’s abortion mills (in Bellevue and Germantown, Md.). In a recent report Liz mentioned one "save" in Bellevue and five in Germantown. Praise God!
There are also regular pray-ers and sidewalk counselors at Planned Parenthood’s abortion mill in northwest Omaha. And, thanks be to God, Essential Pregnancy Services, a pro-life pregnancy resource center, has a facility right next to both abortion mills in Omaha/Bellevue.
Although there are some faithful pray-ers and sidewalk counselors at all three abortion mills in Nebraska, there is great need for more volunteers at every location. Having people visibly praying outside these abortion mills throughout the days when abortions are being committed is essential to saving lives.
This prayerful presence also has a positive impact on passersby, as many have stopped to say that it has inspired them to get involved in pro-life activities.
So what do you say? Can you spare some time to save a life?
The Planned Parenthood abortion mill in Lincoln is located at 48th and Old Cheney and abortions take place on Tuesdays. The Planned Parenthood abortion mill in Omaha is located at 3105 N. 93rd Street and abortions take place on Thursdays. And Carhart’s abortion mill is located at 1002 W. Mission Ave in Bellevue with abortions done on Fridays and Saturdays.
For those who cannot be physically present to pray at one of these abortion mills, please commit to praying from home, in your car, or at Church on one or all of these days.
