By Fr. Justin Fulton
This Litany has been in this column before. That’s okay. I love it. I feel it should be prayed every day. I would like to share our thanksgiving to God and to you again.
A Litany of Thanksgiving
For all You have given me
My God I thank You
For all you have withheld
My God I thank You
For all You have withdrawn
My God I thank You
For all You have permitted
My God I thank You
For all You have prevented
My God I thank You
For all the sincere friends you have given me
My God I thank You
For all You have forgiven me
My God I thank You
For all You have prepared for me
My God I thank You
For the death You have chosen for me
My God I thank You
For the place You are keeping for me in Heaven
My God I thank You
For having created me to love You for eternity
My God I thank You
My God I thank You for all things
And may I live and die thanking You.
Amen.
The good people of God have risen to the occasion of helping out those most in need during this COVID-19 pandemic. We shared with everyone how CSS has been helping out those in need with pre-packaged food pantries in Hastings, Auburn, and Lincoln, elderly food delivery, telehealth counseling statewide, and cash and rental/utilities assistance in Hastings, Imperial, and Lincoln. And we asked you to join us in helping out with a cash donation.
As of this writing (April 8), we are humbled to announce we have raised $150,000+ from all across the Diocese, all across the state of Nebraska, many states, and even a few countries around the world. We are humbled and very, very grateful to you and to Almighty God for these generous gifts.
The COVID-19 Relief Fund is going directly to feed people or get them cash assistance. The money raised is going directly to people who need help from all walks of life throughout southern Nebraska. It’s the work of the Church and we thank you for partnering with us to do it.
We are currently in the process of proportionately distributing the funds through our Imperial, Hastings, Lincoln and Auburn offices to help people out from all parts of the diocese. We will share what phone numbers and hours to call to submit applications for Emergency Cash Assistance in the coming weeks. We know we won’t be able to help everybody—the economic damage done by this pandemic is broad, sweeping, and severe. But we will do our best to help those who need food and cash assistance as unemployment and underemployment wreak havoc on the people of southern Nebraska.
Thank you for your help and thank you for your trust in Catholic Social Services of Southern Nebraska. Together, with the grace of God, we are going to get through this. May we look out for one another and may we trust in Jesus. His Light conquers all darkness and your goodness is proof of this fact.
Keep your hands folded and washed, and may God bless us always!
