Just days ago, on a Friday morning, I strolled through Gianna’s Java & Gelato and greeted a table of four, comprised of two couples. At the table were Mike and Jan McConnell. They were there celebrating Jan’s birthday. After singing happy birthday, they informed me they come to Gianna’s every Friday morning for breakfast and coffee. “It’s a great place to visit while eating and drinking good food and coffee.”

After visiting and thanking them, I greeted another couple, Gene and Barb Roth. I just love seeing couples like them gazing lovingly into each other’s eyes. “Is this your first date together?” I asked. “Father, our 57th wedding anniversary is just days away!” They too are weekly visitors to Gianna’s.

After thanking them, I stopped to say hello to our marvelous staff in the back. Was it also because I knew that a fresh batch of gelato pops were in the mix?? Please do not ask me how often I have gelato each week…. with this information, coupled with seeing a fresh batch of scones being made with walnuts, blue cheese and Asian pears, I knew I needed to return for lunch…

Whether the occasion is a birthday, anniversary, or if it’s your stomach talking, we thank you for patronizing Gianna’s Java & Gelato, for all of the proceeds go to assist the many women who are escaping abortion and domestic violence with their children and also the many individuals and families that come to us whether they need emergency services or grants for counseling services.

We are located in the St. Joseph campus on 23rd and O streets, and when you come, we should have our new menu available along with fresh gift cards that can be used for Thanksgiving and Christmas gifts. Please also remember that we have a drive thru window if you are on your way to or from work and want a cup of coffee, a dish of gelato, a gelato pop, or a food item from our brand new menu. Please know that we will keep you, your family and intentions in our prayers. St. Gianna, pray for us!
