Barker Plays 1st Violin in Omaha
Nora Barker, junior at Sacred Heart School, was chosen to play 1 st violin and was Concert Master for the orchestra at the BOCH Festival on January 31. The 3 day honors festival was sponsored by UNO, and featured students from more than 70 schools across the state. Students were led by UNO faculty in ensembles for Band, Orchestra, and Choir, then performed at a concert at Baxter Arena in Omaha. Nora was one of four students chosen to audition for 1st violin. She was then a featured soloist for one of the movements of the Holberg Suite by Edvard Grieg. Nora is a member of the Sacred Heart band and choir, plays in the Omaha Youth Symphony, and is a student of Lisa Nielsen at the Omaha Conservatory of Music. She is the daughter of Jeff and Mary Barker of Shubert.
