Guess & Ninh Honored
Cathedral 8th graders Brooklyn Guess and Viet Ninh were recognized by Elks Lodge #80 on March 15th as "Teens of the Year".
Elks Club represrentatives said, "This is one of our greatest Elk events because it's about investing in our future. We value character and hard work above all else. The students here exemplify that, and that is a big credit to their amazing families."
Mrs. Wiebusch, who represented Cathedral at the banquet, noted, "Brooklyn is such a hard worker, and is always willing to step in and volunteer where needed. She is a dedicated student who cares immensely about the quality of her work."
Of Viet, Mrs. Wiebusch said, "Viet has grown into a tremendous role model for his peers, and our younger students. A very strong student, Viet has begun to become active as a volunteer around Cathedral."
Mr. Ekeler stated, "We appreciate the Elks Lodge, and their work holding up students like Viet and Brooklyn. For her part, Brooklyn has always supported our mission as a servant leader and that's a tribute to great parenting. As for Viet, it's been fun to see him come out of his shell and develop just as we hope all our students do - as a worker who serves others. Again, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, and Viet comes from a great familly."
Roughly a dozen Lincoln-area schools were represented at the award banquet, including Diocesan friends St. Joseph's and St. John's.
