Pius X Academic Decathlon Team Wins State
ACA DECA wins again! Congratulations to the Pius X Academic Decathlon team and coaches for claiming first place in the large school division at the Nebraska State competition. The Thunderbolts will now represent Nebraska in the National Online Competition.
Lisa Vu led the Thunderbolts with a Gold Medal and a perfect score in Math and was the highest scoring student in the entire competition. She also took home three silver medals (Art History, Economics, Speech) and three bronze medals (Science, Music, Essay) in the honors division. Isaac Kramer placed third in the Honors division and claimed Gold medals in five categories: Art History, Language and Literature, Science, Music, and Economics. Two other Thunderbolts claimed third place in their respective divisions: Michael Timmerman in Scholastic and Isaac Uttecht in Varsity.

The topic for this year’s Academic Decathlon competition was World War II. Super Quiz team took the bronze medal and included team members: Lisa Vu, Isaac Kramer, Madeleine May, Charlie Hansen, Michael Timmerman, Gabriel Clark, Isaac Uttecht, John Kilts, and Parker Dodson. The Pius X Aca Deca team is coached by Ann Kotopka, Shiela Sievert, Margaret Kaiser-Woodward and Alex Hain.
