Sacred Heart Publication students to compete at the State Journalism Championship
Sacred Heart Publication and English Teacher Erin Waller is pleased to announce that several Sacred Heart publication students will be competing at the State Journalism Championship. Mrs. Waller submitted a variety of student work from this year’s Spotlight and Yearbook. The top ten entries in each category were selected to move on to the state competition which takes place on the Northeast Community College Campus in Norfolk, NE on Monday, April 24th. Editorial Writing students Sara Wertenberger and Lexi Barnes and editorial cartooning student Easton Vonderschmidt will be given a topic that day and an allotted amount of time to write/draw their piece. These writings and drawings will then be judged for awards. Lexi Barnes, Libby Dunn and Haylee Heits will be honored that day as well for yearbook theme development. This is for the “Quotable” theme from the 2015-16 yearbook. These themes have already been judged and the awards will be given at state. “I’m so proud of these students and all of their hard work,” stated instructor Erin Waller. Congratulations and good luck to the Irish publications students.
