About & Letter

The Liturgical Commission of the Diocese of Lincoln assists the Bishop in his role as high priest of his flock in promoting the full, active participation of Christ's faithful in the worship of Almighty God. It fosters the beauty of the sacred liturgy in the promotion of sound liturgical formation in accord with the teaching and tradition of the Church.

Long Term Goals:

1. Foster a reverent and beautiful ars celebrandi among the priests and other sacred ministers in the Diocese of Lincoln.

The primary way to foster the participation of the People of God in the sacred rite is the proper celebration of the rite itself. The ars celebrandi is the best way to ensure their actuosa participatio.

2. Foster the awareness and use of sacred music in the liturgy.

3. Foster the promotion of sacred art as a means to lead people to the beauty of God.
