LINCOLN (SNR) – Father David Bourek, senior priest in residence at St. Patrick Parish in Lincoln, celebrates Mass and prays the rosary every Monday at High Plains Alzheimer’s Special Care Center in Lincoln.

Father Bourek is also appointed to serve in healthcare ministry and nursing homes and is director of the Rural Life Conference for the Diocese of Lincoln.

When the coronavirus guidelines restricted visitors to senior living communities, Father Bourek was unable to make his usual Monday visits to High Plains.

Once the weather started to improve, he came to pray the rosary with residents, sitting outside the window and using a microphone so the residents can hear him from the other side of the glass. It went so well, he continues the outdoor visits weekly.

“This has been such a blessing to the Catholics at High Plains,” said Karrie Seeman, community resource director. “We are grateful for the time Father has taken to do this.”
