Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House will hold its annual Magnificat celebration dinner Friday, Oct. 9, at Venue 5 Twenty-Two in Lincoln.
This year’s theme, “He Has Done Great Things,” draws from Mary’s song of praise in the Gospel of Luke: “The Almighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name.”
The evening will provide an opportunity to recognize how God has worked through the retreat house and in the lives of those who have come there seeking prayer, silence and renewal. Guests will hear stories and highlights from the past year, receive updates on recent accomplishments and learn how the retreat house is laying the groundwork for the future.
“The Magnificat Dinner gives us an opportunity to pause and give thanks for all that God has done through the retreat house,” said Father Gary Coulter, director of Our Lady of Good Counsel. “Every retreatant who comes through our doors has a story, and each story is a reminder that the Lord is still at work.”
Sister Ann Marie Zierke of the Marian Sisters of the Diocese of Lincoln will be the featured speaker. Through her reflections, guests will be encouraged to rejoice in what the Lord has done, treasure His graces and allow their gratitude to bear fruit in the lives of others.
The annual dinner benefits the mission of Our Lady of Good Counsel, helping provide a peaceful place where people can step away from the demands of daily life, encounter the Lord and deepen their relationship with Him. Retreats give participants the opportunity to return to their families, parishes and communities renewed in faith. Support from the evening helps the retreat house welcome retreatants for preached, directed and private retreats throughout the year.
“Those who attend and support the Magnificat Dinner help make new projects possible and allow more people to step away from the noise of daily life and spend time with the Lord,” Father Coulter said. “We are deeply grateful to everyone who helps continue this mission and joins us in giving thanks for all God has done at Good Counsel Retreat House.”
This year’s dinner will be held at a new location, Venue 5 Twenty-Two, 1525 Yankee Hill Rd., Lincoln. Cocktails will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. All are invited to join the evening of fellowship, gratitude and support for the mission of Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House.
