St. John the Apostle Parish in Lincoln will hold a patriotic rosary service Sunday, June 28 at 7 p.m.

The event, held at St. John, 7601 Vine St. in Lincoln, will celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Greg Viergutz, an organizer of the event called “the impact of Christian faith on the Founding Fathers in the writing of the Constitution as well as the Declaration of Independence” undeniable and worthy of remembrance.

A Hail Mary will be prayed for each of the 50 states. Each decade will be dedicated to various federal, state and local branches of the government.

Presentation of the U.S. “Stars & Stripes” and the Vatican’s papal flag will open the program. The singing of popular patriotic songs, including less familiar verses, will be included. Prayer sheets will be available, with complete verses of the patriotic songs used in the service.

Short commentaries from various early statesmen, as well as one from more recent times, will also be featured. All are welcome to attend.
